Basic Considerations Energy Layout Chemical Parks

Chemical Industrial Parks are to be considered as high energy consuming requiring a sound and engineered optimized Energy Layout.
The mix of steam grids, steamproducers on site, steamrecovery, electrical grid and electrical producers en consumers,
waste gas recovery, natural gas and hydrogengas usage require an in depth analysis.

This analyses encompasses typical energysourcing possiblities, energybalancing requirements, various operational constraints, energy optimizing requirements and life cycle considerations of the various plants present on the Chemical Park terrain.
Also from the view of emergency management various non-normal operating situations have to be assessed thoroughly varying from blackout start and emergency situations, brown out recovery procedures and recurring turnaround operations modes by energy suppliers as was as energyresource consumers.
These assessments will address required redundancy and associated investment schemes.

Organisational considerations will address matters of ownership of gridcomponents, steam and electrical units, recompensation of recovered waste gas. Whereass ownership comes with the prize of investment needs, long term usage and delivery contracts will have to be the foundation and ground work of Energy Site Management.
Typically Energy Site Management will be done by one dedicated Energy Management Department. This EDM can be part of one of the Siteusers, a dedicated company owned by all or subset of all the Siteusers.
A dedicated company will be in a position to procure the energy components more efficiently because of more favourable volume aspects.

In a highly integrated site mutual energy sourcing can be performed getting to the most optimal mass- and energy balance. This requires a good and well established management interaction between various siteusers.
